This is the body that serves as the Fon’s direct collaborators. They reflect with the Fon in all matters affecting the lives of the village. It is made up of quarter heads and king makers. The Ngomba is the highest authority of the village with the Fon as its chair. The Ngomba meetings are only for members and no one is admitted no matter who you are. Her decisions are taken by the body and are implemented in the name of the Fon anonymously.
The Ngomba can sanction the Fon on negative behavior. She ensures the protection of the Fon and properties from whoever abuses of these especially from any prince. It protects the territorial boundaries of the village. Some decisions taken by the Ngomba are implemented by the Tekkene a secret execution wing that can bring down a family name in the village if it is proven beyond doubts that the family is involved in witchcraft practices leading to blood drinking and the death of others. It also disciplines village members who have committed heavy crimes especially offences that relate to the palace standings.
The appellation Ngomba comes in only when the is a decision and the message bearer is in a masquerade. As such only the members know who it is and he cannot be called by name while in masquerade.
